Petty Images has launched General AI by iStock: an AI image generator that allows customers to create their own artificial intelligence photos. The new product is aimed at small and medium businesses that need stock photos, and the text-to-image model was developed by Nvidia. It operates under the iStock brand, a subsidiary of Getty. In a press release, Getty says the AI-generating model was "trained using only high-quality content and proprietary data from Getty Images' creative libraries." The photo giant also says iStock's Generative AI doesn't create images of "known products, people, places or other copyrightable elements.
With this in mind, Getty Fax Lists is compensating users of the new tool in the form of $10,000 in standard iStock coverage that customers get with standard iStock photos and videos. Users can also modify images by generating completely new images and it can be integrated into existing apps and plugins via API. To generate 100 images, the user has to allocate 15 dollars. “Using AI, creators have the ability to create anything they can imagine. Our own VisualGPS research shows that 42% of SMEs and SMBs are already using artificial content to support their marketing efforts,” says Grant Farhol, Chief Product Officer, iStock.

In September, Getty launched a service called "General AI by Getty Images" ; an AI image generator that customers can use on Getty's stock website. It was the first time Getty had embraced artificial intelligence after previously having a reputation for being anti-AI; mainly due to the legal proceedings against the producers of Stable Diffusion, the stability of AI.
