Couldn’t let the passing of the Great Man go without a few words.
As an undoubted inspiration to the early Horde, who were deeply immersed in the Cramps inspired Pyschobilly scene on the early 1980’s - penning Cramp-esque titles such as Vampire Bat, the Curse and Brainiac. In Oct 1991 , the Horde supported the Cramps on all but 2 dates of their UK tour and wrote Rorschach inspired by Poison Ivy, the Cramps guitarist.
Lux Interior , Cramps front man (Lead singer does not do this man justice) died Wed 4th Jan, 2009 , aged 62.
On a personal level , Cramps music would be the soundtrack of my life - when I am happy thesre’s a Cramps song to play and when I am melancholy there’s a Cramps record too. From the moment I first heard the booming bass and drums of TV Set I was hooked, and was also lucky enough to experience the mix of sleaze and sex that was the Cramps live on a few occaisions. Lux had some amazing one liners
“I’ll show you the book of life You can just look at the pictures if ya like”
There’s a little less sleaze around today …………….. RIP Lux
