Hello and Welcome to my new golden Horde Website. For years the Golden Horde's website presence was maintained by Mr. Smedley. When he stepped down I decided the void must be filled. A special thanks to Mr Smedley for providing me with the existing web material. Special thanks to Eamon Keane who provided all the technical support for this site (ie built it). Eamon runs the wonderful Irish Rock and New wave resource irishrock.org (visit there when you are finished here - see links) [glow=red,2,300] HELP [/glow] You will notice a few blank areas in the discography - either I dont have it or I cant confirm it's existence. Also I need all the material YOU have got for the site - scans of tickets, posters, promo material, articles etc (donations of originals greatfully accepted as well !!!) Will add the MP3s when I can find somewhere to host them Hope you enjoyed the stay [glow=red,2,300]Goldenhordeman[/glow]

Try here for starters irishrock.org/ipnw/video.htmlThis is only a taster of what is available on Youtube - then go into Youtube and do a search for what YOU WANT TO SEE. Follow links to similar items on Youtube , and also links to items by same uploader (as one person may upload many similar items). Identify uploaders who may be able to help you and send them Email - you never know !!!!!!!!!!!!! [glow=red,2,300]Goldenhordeman[/glow]

Went to see The Horde in 1990 in McGonagles. It was excellent, the support act was a band from Drogheda called The Dreads who did a great version of "I wanna be sedated" by Ramones. It was the first time I had seen the GH, Simon was wearing a t-shirt with "girls" written all over it and the rest of the band looked really cool. A few days later i was in a record shop and listened to a bootleg of the show and it rocked.Such a wonderful band that should have had more success. There should be a law against bands like that breaking up!

noNo NO! That gig was in about March or April 1990.It would be good if there could be a retrospective compilation of the band released maybe compiled by fans.

"It would be good if there could be a retrospective compilation of the band released maybe compiled by fans." Nice sentiment Ian, but I think that as the band haven't been arsed to release it, you might have to do everything on it - sort out publishing , artwork, finance, distribute yourself. It is disappointing that there is no Horde stuff easily available on CD, especially recent glut of Irish rock CD issues now available - Big self,Blaze X, Something Happens etc

The Stingrays gig would've been '84 or '85. They were definitely in Dublin in July '85 cos they appeared on Dave Fanning's Show. The Stingrays did a couple of jingles for the show (which I have on tape) and also played the Duane Ripley recording. This was a good 6 months before the single came out.
There were a number of trash events in Dublin around then and the Horde always seemed to be behind them, including my faves at the time The Prisoners, an incredible live band.
As is mentioned in one of the fanzine excerpts in the media section of goldenhordeman's site, the Horde did record at least one gig with an eye to releasing a live album -- this was at the Cathedral, circa 86-87. It never came out of course. There must be Mother Records material aswell. Outtakes, unreleased songs, what have you.
Does anyone out there have any good quality live tapes?
- eamonn.

Well done. It's great to see that Mr. Smedley's work hasn't been lost and I love the additions you've made to it.
